First time going there yesterday and I must say who ever cooked that chicken, definitely knew what they were doing! It was delicious and big portions for the price! I recommend and will definitely return!!
Old style fried chicken fast food place with also shrimp meals, hot dogs and hamburgers, shakes & soda crinkle fries with each meal reasonable prices. No inside service as run from an old drive up stand. Has changed ownership and has limited hours typically 11-7. Great chicken and good size pieces and nice tasty fries. Same names as famous Fast Eddies Bon Air but independent.
I finally went here for the first time recently, and it was alright. Wasn't sure about the history with the Fast Eddie's name or connection, as I assumed it was like its counterpart where they didn't take cards. It's not too far from the famed bar/restaurant, but in a sketchy part of Alton. You can simply park and walk up to the window and order. Or call ahead. There is no indoor eating. I got the fried chicken meal which came with fries. Soda was extra. I took it down to the river park and ate it. The chicken was good, crispy yet a little bland (should have asked for sauces!). Fries were great. For the soda, they give you small cubed ice, filled more than halfway in the cup. Would I go back? Probably. They have a decent menu, as in they don't just serve fried chicken. They do have other fried goods, as well as milkshakes and other things. And they don't just take cash, they do accept credit cards unlike the "other" Fast Eddies place in Alton.
Fast Eddies was recently (within the last six months) sold to a new owner. They've kept the name and the quality of fried chicken. The community and myself are glad that things have not really changed much with new ownership. The fried chicken here is hot, crispy and cheap. Honestly, I dislike the word cheap, I guess affordable is would be a better word. Their chicken boxes are simple. They are mixed, all dark or white and come with fries. They make a lunch or dinner easy. The fries are crinkle, which is my favorite. It holds the ketchup better. As a reminder, Fast Eddies is an order at the window and wait for your order to be prepared. There is no seating available. Once you have your order, you can eat it in your car or drive home or back to the office to enjoy. When I'm craving fried chicken, this is where I go. It's a local business, so I do not have to support one of those national chains. The staff is friendly. Actually, the staff is better under the new ownership. That makes the ordering and pick-up experience better.
